Senior School

Senior School

Exeter is a wonderful city, and the school reflects that in many ways, being grounded in our Devon traditions, but also aspirational and ambitious, and looking ahead and beyond to the local community, and further afield. For almost four centuries Exeter School has proudly provided an excellent education for its pupils.

Our excellent examination results tell only half of the story. One of the most impressive aspects of our school is the closeness of the Exonian community. We value close contacts with parents, members of the community and past pupils, who often come back to school to work with current pupils. Our aim is for pupils to reflect on their own values, their own wellbeing, and their attitudes towards others, supported by our focus on character through our school virtues

  • To act with kindness and integrity
  • To welcome and serve
  • To inspire and challenge curious minds
  • To endeavor and collaborate

Our classroom teachers take pride in the content and delivery of their lessons, in which enjoyment, innovation and rigor happily co-exist.  An important part of an Exeter School education is the wide range of enrichment opportunities also on offer and you’ll be able to explore a wide range of what’s on offer over the next pages.

Our senior school is a diverse, co-educational school of approximately 770 pupils split across five classes of each year level, offering great opportunities to grow and develop in the formative years between 11 and 18. To strengthen our purpose to aspire and flourish, pupils are also allocated a house team which fosters belonging, valued unique contributions and a sense of challenging the individual beyond expectation but within a nurturing, safe and collaborative environment.
