Our key aim at Exeter Pre-Prep School is to provide a broad and balanced curriculum which prepares children for the next step in their education. This is achieved within a stimulating, nurturing and inspiring environment where children can thrive and develop a real love of learning. We aim to ensure that children of all abilities make excellent progress during their time with us.
Children in Nursery and Reception follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, which is based on three prime areas of learning (communication and language, physical development, and personal, social and emotional development) and four specific areas of learning (literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, and expressive arts and design). In addition, the children also enjoy weekly French, Music and Forest School sessions.
In Years 1 and 2, the curriculum is based on, but not restricted to, the national curriculum for Key Stage 1. This includes English, mathematics, science, PSHE, computing, humanities, religious education, art and design technology. The children also have weekly lessons with subject specialist teachers in music, sport, French and Forest School. Each class from Reception has a weekly swimming lesson on a termly rotation at Exeter School.
