Junior Reflections Week 26 2024

Dear parents,

Welcome back

It was super to see so many of you on the gate this week and of course to welcome your children back to school for the summer term. I always enjoy hearing about the adventures that the pupils have got up to and for many, if like me, you were in Devon, it was more about dodging the rain and hail. I am ever hopeful that the sun is going to continue as I know that one of the highlights for the pupils is playing on the field during breaks and lunchtimes.

School grounds

Building work on the sixth form centre is underway with gusto and the pupils are enjoying watching the creation that is unfolding. With this in mind, we had our termly fire alarm to ensure that all pupils are reminded of how to leave the building, and this was the best drill yet. Mr Bone always comments on how well the junior school conduct themselves and this was brilliant – all pupils out of the building in under two minutes and in silence. Our grounds look amazing. Our wonderful estates team have been busy over the holidays ensuring that the school is looking tip top ready for the start, and it certainly does. Thank you!

Staff news

I want to wish Mr Cunningham the very best of luck on Sunday, running the London Marathon in aid of The British Heart Foundation. I will be watching from home and cheering him on. The pupils enjoyed wearing their trainers in support today and thank you on behalf of Mr Cunningham for all your kind donations towards his charity. I am sure he will be sharing his experience with the school on Monday. I would also like to welcome Ms Kat Hodson to the team. Kat is currently standing in for Mrs Turner who is currently absent from school, recuperating from knee surgery, and she will be joining the team in September as a maternity cover Teaching Assistant.

The sun is around for the weekend so do enjoy it and hopefully it will be here for next week as well.
