Arts Award Gold installation

Posted: 21st March 2025

“Interstice” 2024-2025 Rose and Lulu (U6) – Hanging installation made with crochet.

As part of the Arts Award – Gold offered as part of the “Friday 8” programme, participants are required to make an artefact which they have worked on in collaboration with other students.

The library staff commissioned Rose and Lulu to make a site-specific hanging installation in response to the stained-glass window it would hang in front of in the library. This window depicts the curve of the River Exe and was made in 2009.

Rose and Lulu firstly taught themselves to crochet then led a series of lunchtime clubs teaching others these techniques. It took many hands to make this piece and thank you to everyone who helped make such an impressive installation.
