The much-anticipated West of England U12 Hockey tournament was held yesterday at Millfield School, with the team putting in a brilliant performance to finish as runners up. It gave our team the opportunity to showcase their talent and compete at a regional level, fostering community engagement and promoting the sports growth within the region.
First up was Millfield, we had a few near misses but struggled to break down the opposition’s defence, we came away with a 0-3 loss. We dusted ourselves off to secure a huge win against Truro, winning 6-0 and boosting our confidence for the next rounds. Another team to beat was KES Bath, both teams came into the game with strong records and high expectations who we defeated on a close 3-2 win for us. The next match against Leckhampton High School saw us victorious with a 2-0 win which secured us a place in the Semi-finals against Blundell’s. This match was a tense affair, with both sides creating several scoring opportunities where we saw some stellar defending and excellent goalkeeping, we scored another goal to extend our lead 2-1 putting us triumphantly in the final against Millfield – each team eager to showcase their skills and vie for the championship the game was electric but heartbreakingly we lost on sudden death shuffles. The game was a testament to teamwork, resilience, and the high level of talent on both sides, making for an unforgettable final.
