Exeter pupils finish strongly at the district cross country

Posted: 15th November 2024

On Wednesday the 13 November, 39 pupils from Third Form to Upper Fifth competed at the Exeter Schools Cross Country Championships at Blundell’s School. Pupils competed in the first round of the English Schools cross country pathway where competitors qualify over several rounds in the hope to reach the English Schools Cross Country Championships in March, 2025.

It was not your normal cross country conditions with great weather for a November morning! The meet started with the Third Form girls and progressed up the age groups. In total, 24 pupils have qualified for the second round, to represent Exeter School at the Exeter vs. East Devon Cross Country Championships. There were some great performances across the age groups. In the Third Form category, Arthur (3F) and Lily (3F) finished in a well-deserved 5th and 6th position. There were also some great performances in the junior age categories with Lisa (L5) and Harry (4F) both finishing 3rd with Lydia (4F) and Will (L5) finishing in a commendable 5th position. In the inter girls race, Penelope (M5) produced an impressive performance finishing 1st. This is a great achievement as she is competing a year young in her age category and won by a clear distance taking a definite win against her competitors.

There were some brilliant overall results from the day. Congratulations to the Junior Boys (4F and L5 boys), Junior Girls (4F and L5 girls) and Inter girls (M5 and U5 girls) who finished 1st overall in the team competition. Also a special well done to the Third Form boys team who finished 2nd overall and the Third Form girls team who finished 3rd overall.
