County swimming success

Posted: 9th October 2024

James, in Middle Fifth, and Holly, in Fourth Form, were both selected from Exeter City Swimming Club to represent Devon at the National County Team Championships in Sheffield, last weekend. They both took part in several races throughout the day, recording some impressive individual results in the process.

James swam an incredible 26.11 second split for his 50m fly leg in the boys 200m individual medley relay, whilst Holly set a new British Record in the 100m fly as the fastest 12 year old in a time of 1:03.33.

The County Team Championships is split into two divisions of approximately 20 clubs in each. Each division is made up of several individual and relay events with each event score counting towards the final rankings. Competing in division one, Devon finished in ninth place at this year’s championships.
