Newly qualified teacher experience

Posted: 27th June 2024

Newly qualified teacher, Peggy Le Bleguet, reflects on her time spent at Exeter School.

I loved every moment of my experience at Exeter School as a Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) trainee. From the very beginning, I was warmly welcomed by the MFL department and the entire school staff, who were always encouraging and supportive. This positive environment played a crucial role in my learning and progress.

My mentor, Mrs Trotman, and ITEC, Mrs Barnes, provided invaluable guidance, helping me to grow both personally and professionally. As a Muslim practicing teacher, I never felt out of place; the inclusivity and respect within the school community were truly remarkable.

The high expectations in the classroom, coupled with the pupils’ positive attitude toward learning, were inspiring. The students thrived and excelled at Exeter School, making my teaching experience incredibly rewarding.
