Pre-Prep Reflections Week 16 2024
Dear parents,
This week has brought more cold, frosty weather, but lots of sunshine too. Early Years children have enjoyed exploring the frozen water trays and the effect that icy surfaces have on bubbles. Earlier in the week, we had a couple of new signs installed; you might have noticed one on the raised banking down on Main Road, and we have had some smart new branding added to the glazing on the front door and the external door in Year 1.
Assemblies
On Monday, Miss Lawrence talked to the children about our new house system, which is being introduced this term. She told the children which houses they will be in and explained some of the plans we have for house events later in the year. On Tuesday, we revisited British Values and focused on individual liberty – the idea that people are free to live how they want, as long as they don’t break the law or hurt anyone. Yesterday, we enjoyed looking at some of the top news stories from around the world this week.
Visitors
On Wednesday, we were pleased to welcome Mrs Nina Hobson, Head of RGS Dodderhill Prep School in Worcestershire. Mrs Hobson asked to visit Exeter Pre-Prep after Mrs Van and I presented at the Independent Schools Conference in November. She was very complimentary about the school and it was a great opportunity to share ideas and good practice. Mrs Van also popped in for lunch with the children on Wednesday and, this afternoon, we were lucky to have Mr Wood and Mr MacEacharn, Bursar, in to hear children read.
Next week
Please note that there is no tennis club on Tuesday and no football club for Year 2 on Thursday, as Mr Rickard is away. He will be back to run the Reception/Year 1 football club on Friday. Children who usually attend these clubs are welcome to join Late Room without charge. From next week, we are going to trial having a new white doorbell at the front door marked ‘Early + Late Room’, which is connected to the Nursery classroom. Please press this to get the attention of the member of staff on duty when you drop-off or collect your child.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing everyone next week.
