Art Printing and Observational Drawings

Posted: 18th January 2024

Our Year 1 and 2 pupils at Pre-Prep have been making these fabulous observational drawings of flowers over the handprint backgrounds they created last week. To begin with, they learnt about what a ‘print’ is and enjoyed getting messy by printing using their hands and other objects. Next, they carefully sketched flowers from photographs, paying close attention to the shapes and details of each individual flower. Then they traced over their pencil lines with black pen to make them really stand out from the colourful background. It was great to think about the stages of creating a piece over time and adding layers to their work.
