“As of today, I have raised over £1200 and the month has been one I’ll remember for a long time. The challenge of training for the half in two weeks joined with the feeling of completing really made the event special “Joe said.
Joe in sixth form, the Buller House Captain, has been fund raising for Movember. He has been running throughout the month and completed a half marathon before school from Exmouth to Exeter School last Monday.
The reason Joe chose to do Movember in November is that he believes it is a massively important charity that covers aspects that influence everyone, particularly it focuses on men’s health with this covering suicide, testicular cancer and prostate cancer.
Every year, the hockey club he plays for does Movember and this year he wanted to take part. Joe have attempted to grow a moustache across the month and on top of this have run over 60km for the 60 men we lose each hour to suicide.
On the 27 November, Mr Jones and Joe set off from Exmouth to run over a half marathon to school as part of the fundraising effort. A 6 am start and they were joined by Mr Trim for the first 3 miles. Along the way the team joined by over 15 members of the sixth form for legs of the run and finishing at school with the support of the wider school community. “It was incredible to be joined by such an amazing group of lads for the run and their support really motivated me for the run.” – Joe said.
