The 1st XI played their national plate tier 2 semi-final on Monday against SGS College from Bristol for a place in the final next week. Both teams were on good form having topped their groups and it promised to be a good contest. Having elected to bat SGS were restricted to 108-8 in their allotted overs thanks to some excellent bowling from Harry in Lower Sixth (2 for 11), Alex in Upper Sixth (2 for 17), Freddie in Upper Fifth (1-19) and Charlie in Upper Sixth (2 for 28). Exeter then set about the run chase in positive fashion and a quick fire 28 off 17 balls from Harry A in Lower Sixth and 30 off 18 balls from Harry M in Lower Sixth helped chase down the total for a loss of three wickets and five overs to spare. They now look forward to the final against Clayesmore School in Dorset at a neutral venue next week.
