The Exeter School String Instrument Scheme (ESSIS) has provided the opportunity for all Form One pupils to learn a string instrument in recent years, and its success was reflected in the large numbers of junior string players performing in the concert. The pupils were supported by a large audience of parents, friends and staff, who were delighted at the opportunity to join in with the end of James’ rendition of Tiptoe, Boo! by shouting out Boo!

There were a number of famous pieces from the classical repertoire, including Clair de Lune, a movement from Vivaldi’s Violin Concerto in A minor and an arrangement of Spring, from the Four Seasons. Many more modern, jazzy works were also enjoyed, including Broadway by Minsky, Boogie Boogaloo by Porter and the intriguing Inazuma Medley by Yu-Peng Chen, which was played with style and commitment by Ivan and fully engaged the audience’s attention.

Our next Informal Concert is on Wednesday 12 March at 4.10pm, when woodwind ensembles and individual players will be on stage.
