Two winners at the Devon Schools cross country champs

Posted: 24th January 2025

On Saturday 18 January, six Exeter School pupils from Fourth Form to Lower Sixth competed at the Devon Schools Cross Country Championships at Exeter Arena. Pupils competed in the county round of the English Schools cross country pathway where competitors qualify over several rounds in the hope to reach the English Schools Cross Country Championships in March.

There were some great performances across the age groups. In the Junior Girls, Lydia J and Lisa H competed in a strong field which is a brilliant achievement, considering they are a school year young. Hanna S and Becky M also ran well in the Inter Girls and Senior Girls race, finishing a commendable 22nd and 11th position.  However, the highlights came in the Inter races where Penelope B produced an impressive performance finishing in 1st place in the inter girls race; finishing a minute in front of her competition. Rory B-W was also crowned County champion finishing 1st in the Inter Boys. Penelope and Rory have both qualified to represent the Devon Schools cross country team at the South West Cross Country Championships in Newquay on Saturday 1 February.
