What a week of rugby for Exeter School. The school rugby teams have been out in force over the past week and there has been significant success for a number of the squads. Last weekend was the annual Devon vs Cornwall clash with a block against Truro School. Despite the wet weather it was well worth the journey with superb performances across all age groups and victories for the 1st XV, U16A, U15, U13A and U12A. Perhaps the highlight of the afternoon being the 60-0 win for the U15A team. This team have had a tough couple of years when it comes to results but Saturday’s performance goes to show that hard work and resilience really does pay off.
On Wednesday the U13s travelled to Mount Kelly to play in their annual 10s tournament. This U13 squad have had a fantastic season and did not disappoint winning all of their matches on the day to be crowned Mount Kelly 10s champions! They will also have been delighted to overturn their only defeat of the season when they beat West Buckland in the final.
A final mention goes to the 1st XV who played their final home match of the season this week. Their match against Plymouth College marked the end of an era for the leavers, a year group who have been outstanding ambassadors to school rugby over the years and make up arguable one of the best 1st XV the school has had. A big thank you to the Upper Sixth players who have worked so hard and represented us so well across both the 1st XV and 2nd XV. The 1st XV go into their final match of the season against Bryanston tomorrow (weather dependent) unbeaten on their Saturday fixture card and having won 13 of their 14 matches this season. We wish them the very best of luck tomorrow and hope they can round off a remarkable term of rugby.
