Alumni annual quiz

Posted: 21st October 2024

On Friday 27 September, we welcomed the sixth form, teachers, alumni and parents to test their grey matter at the much-loved Exonian quiz. Recently retired Giles Trelawny (staff, 1993-2024) and Head of Third Form and geography teacher, Helen Sail, were our appointed quiz masters this year. They did an exemplary job, asking questions ranging from the history of Exeter Cathedral to expressions that originated in naval life… like all hands on deck, as well as questions relating to more recent times.

The quiz was, once again, compiled by former Head of Geography, John Davidson (staff, 1976-2018), and alumnus Steve Perring (1977-1981), plus we were joined by another former pupil, John Tregellas (1974-1981) who skilfully played national anthems on the piano… leaving a few slightly perplexed faces in the audience, as they attempted to work out the country of each one! The winning adult team and the winning sixth formers, both taking top spot at last year’s quiz too, were all delighted to be crowned champions once again! Funds raised from the evening and ticket sales went to the bursary fund and local charity Hospiscare.
