As part of the junior school celebrations for National Poetry Day, the upper school took part in a Guinness World Records Official Attempt: World’s Largest Poetry Lesson this morning. It was great fun! The children enjoyed voting on which lines to include in the poem and having their say. The theme of National Poetry Day this year is Counting, and all the children are busy writing poems on this theme in their English lessons. They will also soon be taking part in a competition to find this year’s Poet Laureates.
On Friday, the Form One classes will be participating in an exciting online poetry workshop with the poet Simon Mole.
Poetry By Heart 2025 also launches today and children will be invited to choose a poem to learn by heart and perform in their English and drama lessons.
Everyone is very busy celebrating poetry in the junior school!
