Our senior Warhammer club started well yesterday with their first meet of the year. It was great to see so many new pupils, especially from Third Form, being welcomed to the activity. The customary term break painting competition kicked everything off and there were some great models on display.
To judge the competition fairly, our sixth form leads broke the room down into two age categories. The younger category was judged first and saw 8 entrants with a range of models being displayed. These ranged from Tyrranids, Haruspex and even a painted rice cooker. The winner was Zander in 4F who had laid out a table of models all named ‘Dave’, featuring Angron, Daemon Primarch of the World Eaters and some Khorne Berzerkers.
Our three sixth form entrants saw stiff competition. We had a Knight Lancer which had been painstakingly painted with the Orion constellation, a Black Coach with wraiths and Terminator squads and a Deathwatch Corvus Blackstar. There was a lot of deliberation over base painting, whether a model had been entered previously and time taken to paint. In the end, the votes were swayed to our winner, due to the level of detail on the Knight Lancer.
Thanks go to all who have donated prizes over the last couple of years. If you have any Warhammer that could be donated, please get in touch with the school. The club are about to run an auction to build some school owned armies to instil a love for Warhammer in more pupils going forward. We’ll keep an eye on what they’re painting and playing through the year.
