On Wednesday July 3, 12 pupils from the senior and junior school competed at the National Prep Schools Athletics Championships at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham. Following qualification at the Mount Kelly Trophy, pupils competed in a range of events representing Team Drake. It is a fantastic achievement to reach this National stage and to compete at the home of British Athletics! In preparation, the pupils have trained hard for their events and their hard work paid off with some brilliant results. A special mention to Isla (4F) who finished 2nd nationally in the U14 girls javelin with a best of 27.21m. Kiera (3F) and Faith (4F) both reached the final for their age groups in the 200m and competed well in a strong field. Aisla (4F) finished 4th in the 300m final and Rory (U2) ran well in the 200m, narrowly missing out on a spot in the 200m final. The pupils were a credit to the school and we look forward to seeing them thrive in athletics in the future.
