Open mic night a success

Posted: 21st June 2024

Held on Tuesday, this lovely relaxed informal open mic evening opened with Exeter School’s very own David Gray, a confident and engaging Archie (Lower Sixth) performing two songs, accompanying himself on acoustic guitar. Grace (Lower Sixth) followed with a self-penned song, entitled “Ran Away”, on piano and vocals.

Darcy (Lower Sixth) changed the mood with a sultry rendition of jazz standard “Misty”, followed by Phoebe and Lizzie (both Middle Fifth) and singing a fantastic duet version of the more upbeat Lady A’s “Need you now” before Lizzie’s solo “Lose Control” and Phoebe’s solo “Je Vol” in French, where she accompanied herself on the piano.

George (Upper Sixth) changed the pace again with a couple of Scandi-Metal numbers, performed to the full with flair and passion, followed by beautiful performances by Rose (Lower Sixth) of “When She Loved Me” and Rosalila (Middle Fifth) of Billie Eilish’s “Idontwannabeyouanymore”.

The evening was rounded off with Rev Close accompanying himself singing “Fever to the Form” by Nick Mulvey.

The next Open Mic event will be next term: look out for the notices and posters around school.
