Cross country

It has been a busy two weeks in the cross-country calendar and Middle Fifth pupil Rory continues to excel on the national stage. Last week he competed for Devon in the inter county event held at Nottingham finishing 4th overall out of 295 U15 runners. You can see his amazing finish in point 2:02:39 of this YouTube video from the British Athletics TV channel. This weekend he competes at the English schools’ national finals in Leeds and will be competing in the U16 event. We look forward to hearing how it goes – full report next week.

Equestrian

Three of our equestrian riders successfully qualified to compete at Hickstead in May to compete in the Eventers Challenge Championship.  This All-England jumping course is the venue for the prestigious championships run by the National Schools Equestrian Association.  Charlie (L5), Lamorna (M5) and Ella (L6) will be competing across various heights representing Exeter School. Both Charlie and Ella qualified at the Bicton event; Charlie in the 70cm and Ella in both the 70cm and 80cm whereas Lamorna qualified at Kings Sedgemoor in Somerset, coming 1st in the 80cm and 4th in the 90cm to secure her place. Lamorna has also been involved in the Pony Club National Spring Festival held at Arena UK, Grantham in February. We wish them every success in the remainder of their events this year.
