Staff, pupils past and present, came together on Monday 20 November to celebrate the creativity in our school community.
This year’s Big Draw theme was ‘Drawing with the senses’ and at Exeter School we chose to interpret this brief through exploring the phenomenon of synaesthesia. This is an experience where someone can see colours or shapes when they hear music. Pupils across Exeter Pre-Prep, Exeter Junior School and Exeter Senior School all participated in this exciting event, where they were asked to make marks in paint, oil pastel and ink in correspondence to the music they were listening to.
The outcomes were dynamic, colourful, and expressive. The pupils commented on how much they enjoyed the process of this task, and it was a joy to watch them getting into the flow of working expressively.
For our Private View we were delighted to have Imogen in the gallery, playing music in response to the artwork and we thank her for her kindness and creativity.
