Last weekend saw top swimmers from clubs across Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire compete at the Swim England South West Regional Championships in Bristol. This is a huge event in the swim calendar, and Exeter School were well represented, with James (4F), Harry (L5), and Evie (4F) all medalling and Will (L5) and Lewis (L5) also competing. The effort these swimmers put into the swimming training needed to achieve these times and successes is like nothing else. A number of them train in the water for around 14hrs each week, 6 days a week, for 49 weeks of the year.
A special mention to James (4F) who qualified for 15 events and competed in 9 over 4 days. Incredibly, he took gold and is now the SW Regional Champion in the 200m fly, swimming an impressive 13 second PB over the heat and final to win it with a time of 2:29.71. That places him 6th in his age category (13) in Britain. Huge congratulations to all of our swimmers and we look forward to hearing more about their success both for club and school.
